that will contains Self-evaluation tool, EDI Charter Mark with recommendations (5 dimensions), Good practice examples and Inclusive Language Guidelines.
EDI GO CHARTER MARK WITH RECOMMENDATIONS
This publication is structured as a series of recommendations on how to improve EDI policies and practices within organizations that work with young people, in five dimensions: Governance / Leadership, Physical environment, Attitudes and Relationships, Community and Partnerships, Direct Work with Young People. It also contains examples of good practice and additional inspirational sources for further reading.
SELF-EVALUATION TOOL
This document is designed as a questionnaire that can help organizations evaluate their EDI policies and practices in each of the 5 dimensions, in order to recognize where there is a possibility for improvement.
INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE GUIDELINES
These Guidelines were developed in response to frequent situations when we wonder if a word or phrase is (enough) inclusive and how not to exclude or "silence" someone with certain language choices. The document consists of a glossary, general guidelines for a more inclusive language, and recommendations on which expressions should be avoided/used in various language contexts.
The training of trainers package
with training materials and resources developed
Will serve further the partner organizations to support the schools, youth centers, profit organizations, youth sport organizations, in using the whole-organizational approach to improve their EDI practices.
The EDI GO project presents a thoughtful suite of tools aimed at enhancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within youth organizations. In today’s climate, where inclusivity is increasingly vital, these resources provide practical support for organizations committed to serving young people from diverse backgrounds.
One of the notable components is the Inclusive Language Guidelines , which highlight the importance of using language that is respectful and inclusive. The document addresses the potential negative impacts of exclusionary language, which can foster feelings of non-belonging among marginalized youth. By providing a framework for youth workers to reconsider their word choices, it illustrates how language can either promote respect or perpetuate stereotypes and biases. The guidelines feature a glossary of key terms, principles for inclusive communication, and a practical table that differentiates between terms to avoid and those that encourage respectful dialogue. This resource can play a significant role in helping create environments where young individuals feel empowered to express their authentic selves.
The Training of Trainers package further supports the mission of EDI GO by equipping youth workers, coordinators, and volunteers with the tools needed to integrate EDI principles within their organizations. This curriculum is crafted to address structural inequalities faced by marginalized youth, including migrants, refugees, and individuals discriminated against based on gender identity or disability. Featuring five comprehensive modules focused on governance, space design, relationship building, community engagement, and direct work with young people, the curriculum provides a structured approach to applying EDI values. It promotes interactive learning through lectures, discussions, and participatory activities, ensuring that participants not only understand but can actively implement EDI principles.
Additionally, the edition on Good Practices of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Organizations showcases how various organizations have successfully implemented EDI practices through a whole-organizational approach. Collaboratively developed by project partners, this document captures lessons learned from national training sessions across five countries. Each organization was encouraged to create an action plan outlining its EDI initiatives, which were subsequently analyzed through a shared framework. This collection provides insights into successes while also highlighting contexts, challenges faced, and the impacts of their actions, offering a potential roadmap and inspiration for other youth organisations interested in fostering inclusivity.
In summary, the EDI-Go project is a commendable initiative that supports youth organizations in their efforts to create environments where all young people can succeed. Through the tools developed, the project offers a practical approach to embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion in youth work. Collectively, these resources encourage a culture of respect and understanding, equipping future generations of youth workers to champion human rights and promote inclusivity within society. While challenges remain in achieving full inclusivity, the EDI-Go project serves as a valuable model for organizations seeking to make meaningful improvements in their practices.
